Auditions for the
Metropolitan Opera’s
2008/2009 production of THAIS
will be as follows:

In order to fulfill this engagement you
would need to be available for rehearsals starting November 10, 2008,
through the final dress scheduled for December 5, and as needed; and for
performances scheduled for December 8, 11, 17, 20 matinee, 23, 27, 30,
2008; January 2, 5, and 8, 2009.
The choreographer, Sara Jo Slate, is
looking for two dancers:
1. Vision dancer – Trained in oriental
dance, particularly floorwork. Capable of flowing, sensual movement and
non-verbal acting. Background in ballet helpful, but not required. The
part requires very brief partial frontal nudity. Please note:
Although the choreography is inspired by
oriental dance in part, it cannot be characterized as traditional oriental
dance.
2.
Oriental dancer – Experienced oriental
dancer (belly dancer) of any style to perform interpretive oriental
dance. Strong, even hip shimmies and deep backbends required.
Please wear dance clothing with bare
midriff and hip scarf. Bare feet or lyric sandals. No skirts or loose
fitting pants. Finger cymbals and veils will not be needed.
Please enter the Metropolitan Opera
(Lincoln Center) via Amsterdam Avenue at 63rd Street through
the South Tunnel or from 62nd Street behind the State Theater.
A guard will direct you. Auditions will be held in Room C19.

your VALID AGMA membership card with you. Please also bring a photo
resume with you to the audition.
