AGMA to Spotlight Black Artists Throughout Black History Month

To celebrate Black History Month, AGMA will be highlighting Black Artists and Organizations (past, present, and future) on its Facebook and Instagram stories. A "story highlight" on Instagram will be created so the posts can be revisited beyond the 24-hour mark. Every Monday throughout February, AGMA will publish AGMAzine articles that feature Black AGMA members. The Union looks forward to spotlighting the Black history (and the Black history in the making) that has shaped and that keeps shaping the performing arts world. Announcing AGMA’s New National Executive Director

The AGMA Board of Governors is pleased to announce Sam Wheeler as the Union’s new National Executive Director. The Board approved this appointment on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Mr. Wheeler will assume the position on February 1, 2022. Mr. Wheeler is a union-side labor lawyer who has dedicated his professional life to the labor movement. He joined AGMA in 2019 as Eastern Counsel. “During his tenure at AGMA, Sam demonstrated that he is a leader and became known for being a strong and gifted negotiator and a fierce advocate for AGMA Artists across the country. The Actors Fund Announces “Gendertainers: From Safety to Celebration”

The Actors Fund has announced "Gendertainers: From Safety to Celebration." Beginning February 8, this 8-week group aims to create a safe and affirming space for Trans, intersex, non-binary, gender-nonconforming and questioning entertainment professionals. Through dialog and inquiry, the group will address the impact of outdated gender roles and expectations placed on individuals and communities, as well as celebrate the contributions of the trans community in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Order Free COVID Tests: Government Website Launches Early

The federal government has unveiled COVIDtests.gov. U.S. residents can order a maximum of four FREE COVID-19 tests that will ship directly to them via this site. Tests will usually ship in 7-12 days. While individuals should be able to place their orders today, according to the White House, this website is still in a “beta phase” and will formally roll out tomorrow. While a very helpful resource, AGMA members should continue to follow protocols at AGMA companies as these free rapid tests shouldn’t be considered a substitute for any testing being conducted by your employer.
