Seeking 1 Black female-presenting dancer and 1 Black female-presenting cover for a role in the Met’s upcoming new production of LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR, directed by Simon Stone with choreography by Sara Erde. The dancer will appear onscreen in a pre-filmed segment, and will also perform live.
We are looking for dancers who are skilled in contemporary dance. At the audition you will dance both barefoot and in sneakers.
Prior to the audition, please submit a short video in close up saying the phrase “HELP ME PLEASE” in varying speeds including slow motion. Imagine that you are desperate to communicate with someone who can’t understand you. This video should be no longer than 90 seconds and should show all angles of your face. Please slate your name and height at the beginning of the video. All videos should be submitted via https://airtable.com/shrFQSEK4lHSwfA3h by Saturday, January 8.
In order to fulfill this engagement, you would need to be available for tech week January 31, 2022 through February 4, 2022, rehearsals beginning March 26, 2022, through the final dress scheduled for April 20, 2022, and as needed; and for performances scheduled for:
April 23, 26, 29. May 2, 6, 10, 14 matinee, 17, 21 matinee.
You must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter The Metropolitan Opera building for this audition. You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for an offer of employment. The Metropolitan Opera will be a fully vaccinated house.
Please bring a photo resume with you to the audition. If cast, non-union members will need to join AGMA.
Please enter the Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) through the Concourse doors into Founders’ Hall. Auditions will be held in the dance studio, Studio C19.
Please be advised that sign in begins one hour before the start of the audition. You must be in the sign in line no later than the start of the audition in order to be seen.
