The Metropolitan Opera will be auditioning DANCERS with exceptional ability in character work, modern, jazz, ballet and social genres for the new 2022-23 production of six-time Grammy Award-winning composer Terrence Blanchard’s Champion directed by James Robinson and choreographed by Camille A. Brown. The Met is seeking a diverse cast of 12 dancers and 4 covers. All ethnicities and racial backgrounds are strongly encouraged to attend.

In order to fulfill this engagement, dancers will need to be available for rehearsals beginning February 27, 2023, through the final dress scheduled for April 7, 2023, and as needed; and for performances scheduled for:
April 10, 14, 18, 22. 25. 29 matinee, May 4, 8, 13.

This audition will be by INVITE ONLY. We are asking all those interested to submit headshots, resumes, and video reels (optional) to this LINK by 11:59PM on Friday, December 9, 2022. If selected to attend the audition, you will be notified no later than Wednesday, December 14. You will be given one of the following time slots:

Monday, December 19, 2022
10:00am – 11:00am
11:00am – 12:00pm
12:00pm - 1:00pm
2:00pm - 3:00pm
3:30pm – 5:30pm – Callbacks

Tuesday, December 20, 2022
1:30pm-4:30pm – Possible Additional Callbacks

Dancers will be notified at the end of their time slot if they are being called back.

This audition will be open to dancers who are members of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists, Inc.) as well as dancers who are not members of AGMA. Dancers who are cast in this production and hired by the Met will be required to join AGMA.

Rehearsals will pay no less than $60.15/hour. Overtime rates are paid under some circumstances, as provided in The Met’s agreement with AGMA. Performances will pay no less than $215.76/performance performed, or $215.76/performance covered. Performance extras are paid when appropriate based on casting, choreography, and staging. These roles will be hired as W2 employees.
