The Dallas Opera is accepting audition submissions for local, Dallas/Fort Worth-based CORPS DE BALLET DANCERS for the upcoming fall production of Pelleas and Melisande by Claude Debussy.
Pelleas and Melisande Synopsis:
Lost, confused, and frightened, Melisande is coerced into marrying the overbearing prince Golaud, and in her marital melancholy, the young bride grows close to her handsome brother-in-law, Pelleas. Golaud’s rage sets the stage for this timeless tale of forbidden love, family jealousy, and regret. Debussy’s luminous orchestrations propel the drama to ecstatic heights, the music a striking contrast to this lean new production by Dutch director Jetske Mijnssen.

TDO is seeking adult, male- and female-identifying dancers of all backgrounds. The production will require dance knowledge, musicality, and is movement focused. Appear in all 5 acts, as ballroom guests, maids, and servants. Strong stage presence and experience in stage performance is preferred.
Contract & Compensation
AGMA Contract; Compensation is set in agreement with AGMA for the 24/25 season:

Dates & Locations
Rehearsals Period: October 21st – November 7th at the Karayanis Rehearsal and Production Center and Winspear Opera House in Dallas, TX. Some important dates below:
- October 21 – October 30 Meet & Greet, Staging Rehearsals (Karayanis Rehearsal Production Center)
- October 31 – November 5 – Onstage Rehearsals (Winspear Opera House)
- November 2 – Piano Dress (Winspear Opera House)
- November 6 – Orchestra Dress w/ invited audience (Winspear Opera House, w/ photo & video recorded)
NOTE: In accordance with AGMA regulation, corps de ballet dancers may be scheduled to rehearse up to 36 hours per week and six days per week.
Performances: November 8, 13, and 16 at 7:30pm. November 10th at 2:00p at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, TX
How to Apply:
This is submission only casting; no live audition will be held. Submissions should include:
- Two links to Dance Reels (videos should be approximately one-minute in length)
- One in movement/musicality-based style.
- One contemporary improvisation or performance.
- Measurements: Weight, Height, Shoe, Pant, Shirt, Bra (if applicable), Head (circumference),
Chest, Waist, and Outseam (waist to floor) - Headshot

We will be collecting audition reels from now until August 16th. Any reels submitted after 11:59pm on August 16th will not be considered for these positions.
