Washington National Opera announces dance auditions for its
2021-2022 Season production of Carmen.
Audition materials to be submitted virtually.
Friday December 17th, 2021: Registration opens online (see below)
Monday January 10th, 2022: Audition video requirements and example sent to candidates*
Sunday February 6th, 2022 at 11:59pm: DEADLINE for application and video submission
*If sign-up occurs after January 10th, the audition video will be sent the next business day.

Performances at the Kennedy Center Opera House
12 Corps Dancers needed (6 women and 6 men—divisi subject to change)
Dancers should have Classical Spanish dance training with excellent sense of rhythm and some Flamenco footwork. They should be dynamic performers, with great personality and Romani attitude. Some partnering and lifts may be involved. Dancers may work with props and/or tambourines.
In particular, men should also have good ballet technique in pirouettes and tours en l’air. One man should be able to do some acrobatic jumps.
Rehearsals begin on or about April 18, 2022.
Technical rehearsals begin May 5, 2022.*
Performance dates are May 14, 15m, 16, 20, 22m, 25, 27, and 28, 2022.
*Piano Tech #1 is currently scheduled for the afternoon of Friday, May 6.
Studio rehearsals will take place at the Washington National Opera Studio in Takoma neighborhood of DC. Tech rehearsals and performances will take place at the Kennedy Center.
