AGMAzine Archives: In 2011, AGMA Marked 75 Years and Looked Ahead

March 25, 2026

During our 75th year, AGMAzine was printed fully in color for the first time, and AGMA launched what is now known as the MyAGMA Portal!

In 2011, AGMA marked its 75th anniversary. The milestone was celebrated and explored across multiple issues of AGMAzine. One issue explored the Union’s history and growth, tracing the path from its founding in 1936 through decades of organizing and advocacy. Another served as a commemorative booklet, marking the milestone with a more formal look back at the people and progress that shaped the Union. A third turned forward, asking what the next era of AGMA’s work might require.

Fifteen years later, those questions still resonate. “How far have we come, and where are we going next?” As in 2011, the answers continue to be shaped by the members themselves.

Now celebrating our 90th year, the 75th anniversary issues of AGMAzine read as both a milestone and a pivot point. It is a moment when AGMA honored its history while also acknowledging that the future would require new tools, new approaches, and continued adaptation.

The 75th anniversary also marked a step forward in how AGMA communicated with and served its members. The anniversary issues were the first to be printed fully in color, and that same year, the Union launched what is now known as MyAGMA, the members-only portal. At long last, members could pay dues online and access important information in one centralized place!

You can explore AGMA’s 75th anniversary coverage in the AGMAzine Archives on the AGMA website.
