WE ARE NOT ATTENDING TONIGHT’S FALL FASHION GALA.
Tonight, October 8, is New York City Ballet’s annual Fall Fashion Gala. And while the AGMA Artists of NYCB wish we could celebrate with the donors who help make this institution so great, we can not celebrate when our needs have not been met.
The letter we sent to management a short while ago is now published in full on AGMA’s website.
Everyone can read the full letter at: musicalartists.org/NYCBartists
THE CURRENT ISSUES AT HAND:
- We have been willing to compromise, but we need fair wages. Management’s proposed raises don’t come close to NYC’s skyrocketing cost of living.
- NYCB should be a leader in an industry plagued by economic insecurity for artists.
- The dancers and stage managers have been at the bargaining table since May and have been working under an expired contract since August 31.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO REACHING AN AGREEMENT:
- We’ve shown up in good faith and have taken a problem-solving approach to negotiations.
- We’ve listened and adjusted our proposals based on management’s feedback to find solutions that work for everyone.
- We’ve made progress with many tentative agreements being reached—proof that collaboration is possible.
OUR WORK CONTINUES…
Management’s current proposal does not reflect the value, dedication, or professional expertise that NYCB Artists bring to this institution.
The AGMA dancers and stage managers at New York City Ballet are united. We remain optimistic that we can work with NYCB so it can remain an industry leader in its treatment of artists. We’ll keep you updated as we continue pushing for a fair contract that reflects the value of our work. Thank you for standing with us!
