Lyric Opera of Chicago announces Lyric Unlimited auditions for 2026-27 opportunities, including Opera in the Neighborhoods tour.
Lyric Opera of Chicago will hold general auditions in Chicago for local opera singers to participate in Lyric Unlimited programming. Primary of those opportunities will be the Opera in the Neighborhoods children’s opera presentation of Earth to Kenzie, by Frances Pollock and Jessica Murphy Moo, during the periods September 28 through November 1, 2026, and April 5 – May 2, 2027. Artists should be local to the Chicagoland area and have daytime availability for rehearsals and performances. Earth to Kenzie will engage four principal cast singers and four covers for the following roles:
•Kenzie (soprano), an avid video game playing fifth grader.
•Edwin/Eddie (mezzo-soprano), a split role of Kenzie’s in-game avatar and real-life classmate.
•Mother (mezzo-soprano), Kenzie’s mother.
•Space-Kitty/Teacher (baritone), a split role of Avatar’s in-game nemesis and Kenzie’s real-life teacher.
