The Metropolitan Opera is auditioning only dancers who currently or have previously danced at the Met for the 2026-27 new production of Jenůfa, directed by Claus Guth and choreographed by Teresa Rotemberg. We are seeking 3 performing and 1 cover dancer to portray men, and 4 performing and 1 cover dancer to portray women. Dancers should have exceptional classical ballet training and strong acting skills. Dancers portraying men that have acrobatic experience are strongly encouraged to attend and may be asked to demonstrate these skills during the audition. Additionally, one dancer in the production will perform in a full head covering mask.

 

To fulfill this engagement, dancers will need to be available for rehearsals currently beginning October 10 through November 15, 2026, and as needed; and for six (6) performances currently scheduled for: November 16, 21 matinee, 23, 28 matinee, 30, December 4, 2026.

 

TUESDAY, APRIL 21

CALLBACK: 4:00 – 5:30 PM

*Dancers will be notified at the end of their time slot if they are invited to the callback.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 22

 

Dancers to Portray Men

IMPORTANT: Pre-registration be done HERE beginning March 30, 2026, at 11:00AM.

 

Rehearsals will pay approximately $63.30/hour. Overtime rates are paid under some circumstances, as provided in The Met’s agreement with AGMA. Performances will pay approximately $227.07/performance performed, or $227.07/performance covered. These rates are subject to the outcome of collective bargaining with AGMA to occur before the expiration of the current agreement on July 31, 2026. Performance extras are paid when appropriate based on casting, choreography, and staging. These roles will be hired as W2 employees.
