2026 – 2027 San Diego Opera Chorus Auditions

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS – Please read carefully.

Audition selections should represent arias in two different languages (English, French, German or Italian) and be in contrasting styles.

Due to the length of the audition time, you may be interrupted during either aria OR you may be asked to sing a specific excerpt from either selection.

You will be asked to sight-sing musical excerpts, and sight-read Italian text aloud.

If have received a contract in a current or previous season, you may be eligible for Core Chorister status if a Core Chorister position is available.

Non-Core Choristers wishing to be considered for potential core openings must offer an aria by W. A. Mozart to be selected from the list appearing below.

Non-Core Choristers who do not wish to be considered for any open core chorister position are not required to offer a Mozart aria.

An audition is not guaranteed by submitting materials. If you are granted an audition, you will be notified of your audition time by April 28, 2026.
