2 Female Corps Dancers and 2 Male Corps Dancers needed
We are seeking dancers with strong backgrounds in jazz and modern dance. Partnering experience is a plus. Candidates should be dynamic performers and fearless storytellers, able to bring both technique and character to the stage.
Please bring character shoes or jazz/sneaker shoes, and wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows unrestricted movement.
Please note that due to the specific requirements of the opera as written, this audition is open to Black dancers only.
Rehearsals begin on or about February 16, 2026.
Technical rehearsals begin on or about March 5, 2026.
Performance dates are March 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22(m), 2026
Rehearsals will take place at the Washington National Opera Studio in Takoma.

Dancers should report to the Washington National Opera Studio, 6925 Willow St. NW, Washington, DC 20012.
To reach the Washington National Opera Studio, go to the 3rd floor of the building; directions will be posted.
Dancers must arrive by the appropriate Registration time listed above, i.e. at least one hour prior to the scheduled Audition time, in order to complete the application process.*

The compensation rates for 2025-2026 are pending the CBA ratification, but they’re expected to be:
