AGMA Ratifies 2-Year Agreement with Pittsburgh Opera

The new collective bargaining agreement between AGMA and Pittsburgh Opera was approved by AGMA leadership, after being overwhelmingly ratified by the shop.

CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS

COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS:

  • Across-the-board increases of 3% in the first year
  • 5% in the second year for Principals, 4.5% for Production Staff, 4% for all other Artists
  • Up-front payment for soloists
  • Paid sick leave for hourly and per-performance artists, including for missed performances (per-performance minimum or 25% of fee for principals, whichever is greater)
  • Nine-hour day for Stage Managers, 11-hour turnaround time
  • Reimbursement of up to $2500 for relocation expenses for stage managers
  • Flat fee for social media takeovers
  • Increase of rates for smaller venues from 75% of scale to 90% of scale
  • Per diems tied to GSA rate to keep pace with inflation

DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND SAFETY:

  • Expanded DEI language, including a non-retaliation provision for raising concerns related to discrimination and harassment
  • Inclusion of shop members in DEI meetings and requirement of at least one meeting per year dedicated to identifying and addressing DEI issues specific to the upcoming season’s programming
  • Expansion of paid sick leave to include leave for reasons related to interpersonal or family violence
  • Guarantee of union representation in interactive process for disability accommodation
