AGMA is proud to announce the formation of the AGMA Pride Caucus, a new member-led space created by and for 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied members of the Union.
The AGMA Pride Caucus is a space for queer and allied members to come together in solidarity across geographical, cultural, and professional boundaries. This caucus exists to advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights within AGMA signatories and the broader performing arts industry, with a special emphasis on urgently supporting and centering the needs of trans and non-binary members. The Pride Caucus will be especially committed to recognizing and addressing the unique challenges that our members face in various work groups and regions across the nation.
“We envision this caucus as a space of care, resistance, and progress, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and accountability,” said Danielle Buonaiuto and AGMA Governor Elliott Encarnación, co-organizers of the AGMA Pride Caucus. “Queer members and allies will come together to dream boldly, organize strategically, and act collectively to build workplaces that are safe, inclusive, and affirming—especially in this critical political moment. Joining the AGMA Pride Caucus means becoming part of a collective force within AGMA committed to advancing dignity, equity, and justice across our institutions. The work of building workplaces and a union that sees and affirms us all can’t be done in isolation; it must be done together, and it starts here.”
Any AGMA Member in good standing is welcome to join the kickoff meeting on Tuesday, July 22, at 3:30 p.m. ET. At this inaugural meeting, we will introduce and define the caucus’s vision and structure, and provide members with an opportunity to connect with one another, brainstorm future initiatives, and share what matters most to them.
