With an overwhelming majority of support, the Dancers of Ballet Idaho have signed cards to form a union and join the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).

“With union approval rates higher than they’ve been in decades, workers are recognizing the great protections and benefits that come with being a part of a labor union. We are thrilled to support the Dancers of Ballet Idaho as they begin this journey, and we look forward to a collaborative and fruitful working relationship with the management of the Company,” said Griff Braun, Director of Organizing and Outreach at AGMA.

AGMA has officially notified Ballet Idaho management and is hopeful that the Company will voluntarily recognize the Union. The Company has until close of business on Thursday, October 21, 2021 to respond.

The Dancers of Ballet Idaho have also sent their own letter to management. A part of it states, “Our decision to unionize is made in the interest of longevity, beneficial working relationships, continued artistic excellence, and mutual commitment between Ballet Idaho and its artists. We believe this decision will protect and enhance our working environment by further solidifying Ballet Idaho’s professional reputation.”

AGMA will release more information as it becomes available.
