Contract Highlights from the New Agreement with San Francisco Ballet

The new collective bargaining agreement between AGMA and the San Francisco Ballet was approved by AGMA leadership on December 16, 2024, after being ratified by the shop. View the joint announcement between the Union and the Company here.

CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS

Economics​ and Other Benefits

  • Compensation for Dancers and Stage Managers will increase, ranging from 4% to 13.5% in Year 1 and additional increases in Year 2 ranging from 4%-6%.
  • Artists promoted to a higher rank and from Corps 1 to Corps 2 will be paid at their new rank if brought back for an additional period of employment during the current contract year.​
  • Apprentices will be paid at Corps de Ballet rates for any weeks they rehearse or perform Principal or Soloist roles.​
  • The employer will compensate Artists for using images that were not captured by the Employer and are outside of the Artist’s Activity.
  • Dancer Guarantee increased from 58 Dancers to 60 Dancers in the CBA.​
  • Side Letter increasing Dancer Guarantee to 72 Dancers for the term of this Agreement.​
  • Side Letter guaranteeing engagement of Assistant Stage Manager for all performance weeks + 4 additional prep weeks for the term of this Agreement.

Health, Safety, & Wellbeing

  •  Clear guidelines have been established to ensure access to the Employer Assistance Program, as well as physical therapy and massage therapy services.
  • Intimacy Coordinator language guaranteeing proper training for Artists for affected productions.
  • Combat Director language expanding existing weapons safety language​.
  • Addition of Juneteenth to Holiday Free Days.​
  • Work and Rest Span​:
    • Artistic Staff will endeavor to release covers for those who are not needed for a performance prior to the half-hour call to encourage additional rest.​
    • Stage Management rest span during performance weeks will not be reduced for participation in production meetings.​
    • No required Artist Activity allowed during a 2-hour period before 1/2 hour sign-in and guaranteed 1-hour rest period before 1/2 hour sign-in of any performance.​
    • Daily rest span for Performance Weeks for Dancers.​
    • Weekly maximum of hours for Stage Management before Overtime kicks in at 54 hours for Performance weeks and 40 hours for Rehearsal weeks.
