Notes:

Text based on Books I, II, and IV of Virgil’s epic poem the “Aeneid”. Woven into the opera text are also ideas and events drawn from other parts of the poem (incl. from books XII, III, & V). The first two Acts of the opera are set in Troy. The action of the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Acts takes place in Carthage, the Tyrian city on the north coast of Africa founded by Dido.
