MODERN/CONTEMPORARY
MALE DANCER CASTING CALL
LA Opera is casting male-presenting modern and contemporary for the 2026-2027 season production
of Carmen, an opera in French, composed by Georges Bizet, with libretto written by Henri Meilhac and
Ludovic Halévy. Directed by Thaddeus Strassberger and choreographed by Antonio Najarro, this
production calls for versatile, dynamic male dancers from contemporary and modern dance, with the
ability to embody the distinctive qualities and spirit of Flamenco and Spanish dance.
CONTRACT DATES:
Costume fittings: TBD
Staging rehearsals begin September 14, 2026.
Performances: October 15 (Final Dress), October 17, October 25, October 29, November 1, November 4,
November 7.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

CONTRACT:
Rate: $1,612.91 per week, plus per diem and round-trip economy flight to Los Angeles, CA for people who are not already local to LA. Must have full schedule availability for the period. Any performer who is not already a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) will be required to join if accepting an
offer of employment
