The Florentine Opera will hold open auditions for experienced, classically trained singers in all voice
categories for the company’s choral ensemble for the 26/27 season under the direction of Chorus
Master Dr. Benjamin Rivera.

Audition Preferences & Chorus Information:
● Preference will be given to vocalists who reside within 75 miles of Milwaukee.
● Priority will also be given to Tenors, Baritones, and Basses.
● The Florentine Opera Chorus is a paid professional chorus and subject to the provisions of
the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).
● Please note that as Wisconsin is a right-to-work state, membership in AGMA is not a
requirement to be a member of the chorus.

26/27 MAINSTAGE OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

  • La Traviata (Verdi; performed in Italian)
    ○ music rehearsals between mid August and late September, 2026
    ○ staging rehearsals from September 28 – October 14, 2026
    ○ performances October 16 & 18, 2026
  • Magic Flute (Mozart; sung in German with English dialogue)
    ○ music rehearsals between mid March and late April 2027
    ○ staging rehearsals from April 26 – 12, 2027
    ○ performances May 14 & 16, 2027

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Lueders Opera
Center in Milwaukee’s Historic Riverwest community at 926 East Burleigh Street.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
● Headshot (or high quality “selfie”)
● Performance resume
● Two pieces with one in a language other than English (see additional details below)
● A prepared excerpt from (Mozart’s Idomeneo; to be provided upon confirmation of audition
timeslot)

Please plan to audition with two contrasting classical pieces of your choosing which best show off
your vocal talents, your vocal range, your musicality, and your acting ability. One of these pieces
should be in a language other than English, and should fit one of the following categories:
● art song
● opera aria
● solo aria from an oratorio or classical piece

(Given that the Florentine Opera chorus mainly performs classical repertory, please note that songs
from the American Songbook, folk songs, or Musical Theatre numbers are not permitted for this
audition. If you are unsure about your choice, please email to ask for advice.)
