Washington National Opera announces Dance Auditions for its 2026-2027 production of Madama Butterfly

10 Female Corps Dancers needed
Dancers should demonstrate strong movement ability, with a solid foundation in ballet, modern, and contemporary dance. Performers must have refined musicality, strong physical awareness, and the ability to move fluidly both individually and in ensemble work. Comfort working with props, fabric, and stylized movement is essential.
Audition Requirements:
- Be prepared to learn and perform movement combinations
- Ensemble-based work may be included
What to Bring/Wear:
- Ballet or jazz shoes
- Comfortable dance attire
Rehearsals begin on or about October 12, 2026.
Technical rehearsals begin on or about October 29, 2026.
Performance dates are: November 7, 13, 15 (mat), 18, 20, 2026.
Rehearsals will take place at the Washington National Opera Studio in Takoma.

Dancers should report to the Washington National Opera Studio, 6925 Willow St. NW, Washington, DC 20012.
To reach the Washington National Opera Studio, go to the 3rd floor of the building; directions will be posted.
Dancers must arrive by the appropriate Registration time listed above, i.e. at least one hour prior to the scheduled Audition time, in
order to complete the application process.*
