From September 15 to October 15, AGMA will join our union siblings in honoring the diverse voices, artistry, and cultural traditions of our members whose Latin American and Hispanic roots continue to enrich AGMA and the performing arts community.
Like last year, we invite members who identify as Hispanic, Latino/a, Latine, Latinx, Afro-Latino/a, or as part of any other part of the diverse Latin American and Hispanic diaspora to share their reflections and experiences for publication during this month of recognition and celebration.
Members who shared their stories during last year’s campaign are encouraged to participate again. To help spotlight as many members as possible, priority will be given to first-time submissions.
PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES:
Deadline for Submissions: Saturday, September 12, 2026, 5 PM ET
Members can participate by filling out this form and either selecting to:
- Be interviewed by AGMA’s Communications Coordinator. (Interviews will be conducted either over Zoom or email, whichever you prefer!) OR
- Submit a written reflection/story (150-800 words suggested); poetry and artwork are also accepted
Story Ideas:
- How does your heritage influence the themes, stories, or styles in your work?
- Share a project, performance, or artwork that reflects your culture or personal history.
- As AGMA celebrates 90 years, reflect on how your heritage has shaped your contributions to the performing arts and the communities you’ve built along the way.
- Discuss a cultural tradition or practice that inspires your creative process.
- A cherished family tradition or cultural ritual that shaped who you are.
- A memory, celebration, or experience that helped you connect to your roots.
- Reflections on identity: How do you navigate multiple cultural identities in your personal or professional life?
- Stories of navigating cultural boundaries in professional or artistic spaces.
- Stories of mentorship, solidarity, or support within your communities.
- Challenges you’ve faced and how you overcame them.
- Moments when representation (or the lack of it) impacted your work or sense of belonging.
- How do language, food, or family traditions connect you to your heritage?
