Stage Managers of Des Moines Metro Opera Unionize, Join AGMA

The American Guild of Musical Artists is pleased to report that the stage managers of Des Moines Metro Opera have unionized with AGMA, joining other top national opera companies in the country. “The stage managers of Des Moines Metro Opera thank DMMO management for voluntarily recognizing our union with AGMA,” read a statement from DMMO stage managers. “We believe this collaborative partnership will continue to flourish as we bargain our first AGMA contract. We are incredibly supportive of the growth of Des Moines Metro Opera in recent years and join with everyone at DMMO in celebrating our 50th anniversary season.” DMMO agreed to voluntarily recognize the Union upon a successful card check. OCCC announces June 27 meeting on Chorister Bargaining Priorities

The Opera and Concert Chorister Caucus invites all AGMA Choristers to its next meeting on Monday, June 27, at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT. This is a very important meeting, as it will focus on “Chorister Bargaining Priorities.” Whether you sing in an opera chorus, a concert choir, or a symphony chorus, it’s vital your voice be heard on the issues that are important to you. June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ individuals and communities, take stock of the progress we’ve made toward equality, and assess the work still to be done.  This year, we must recognize that, all across the country, there is a concerted and coordinated effort to roll back hard-fought freedoms for the LGBTQIA+ community and to attack the liberty and dignity of transgender and gay youth, in particular.
