AGMA VP Antuan Byers to Feature as Panelist in Department of Labor’s Black History Month Event

AGMA Dancers Vice President Antuan Byers will be a panelist at “Making Equity Real: Creating Career Pathways and Good Jobs in the Arts” hosted by the Department of Labor on Wednesday, February 28, at the Frances Perkins Building in Washington, DC.

In honor of Black History Month, the discussion will focus on the importance of good jobs, equity, and job quality in the Arts, particularly for Black workers. The critical role that unions like AGMA play in achieving equity for workers of color will be highlighted.

According to the event description, the event will include remarks from Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, National Endowment for the Arts Chair Maria Rosario Jackson, Ph.D., a panel of working artists, performers, and leaders, and more. In addition to a speaking program and panel, this event will feature artistic presentations and an opportunity to network and mingle with individuals playing a role in moving this work forward.

Timing: Speaking program 1:00 - 2:30 PM ET; art gallery and mingling 2:30 - 3:00 PM ET
