AGMA began contract negotiations with the Metropolitan Opera today under unique circumstances. The Met approached us about a one-year agreement, which we saw as a strategic opportunity to secure short-term gains while keeping our eyes on bigger wins next year.
The Met Negotiating Committee—made up of AGMA Artists across every area of the house—is stepping into this moment with energy, unity, and a clear vision. We’ve held meetings, hosted info sessions, surveyed colleagues, and worked together to identify what matters most to Met Artists.
Our top priority right now is meaningful wage increases for all AGMA members at the Met. We’re also fighting for job security, better rehire practices, and increased recognition across the board.
This is a pivotal moment, not just for Met Artists but for opera workers and supporters everywhere. We won’t accept anything that undermines our work or the Met’s artistic excellence. With your solidarity, we are ready to work in true partnership and build a foundation for long-term stability and respect.
Together we will.
Keep up with us over the next six weeks:
