11/17/2022 – The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) is pleased to announce that the dancers of Saint Louis Ballet have voted overwhelmingly in favor of unionizing with AGMA, the labor union of the finest dancers, singers, and staging staff in dance, opera, and concert choral performance throughout the United States.

The National Labor Relations Board election was held on Thursday, November 17. Given the results, Saint Louis Ballet has recognized AGMA as the exclusive bargaining representative of the dancers.

“Congratulations to the dancers of Saint Louis Ballet for winning their Union. AGMA is thrilled to welcome the dancers of Saint Louis Ballet during a pivotal moment in AGMA’s history,” said Sam Wheeler, AGMA’s National Executive Director. “Every new AGMA member adds to our collective power, and we are proud to welcome these incredible Artists into the Union. The Saint Louis Ballet dancers are the most recent Artists to recognize that unionizing their company is the best way to ensure a consistently safe, secure, and equitable workplace.  They will not be the last. We look forward to a positive collaborative bargaining process with the management of Saint Louis Ballet.”

Negotiations for a first contract are expected to commence after the new year. Saint Louis Ballet’s upcoming productions include The Nutcracker, their annual February Do It For Love repertory, and Swan Lake in April.
