Due to legal concerns about compliance with federal labor law in connection with the upcoming AGMA elections, counsel has advised the union (out of an abundance of caution) to postpone the publication of AGMAzine until after the election. The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) fully supports the Chicago Federation of Musicians and the Orchestra at Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) in their efforts to obtain a fair contract. As of today, March 11, 2019,  the CSO instrumentalists have gone on strike to obtain a fair contract and fight back against cuts that will hurt both the musicians and the quality of the artistry at CSO. AGMA Installs New President

New York, NY (March 1, 2019) – Today, the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), installed its new President, John Coleman, following the resignation of James Odom from the position. President Coleman moves into his new role per the Union’s constitution which provides that the First Vice President assumes the duties of the President upon resignation. Currently, a full-time Stage Manager at Lyric Opera of Chicago, President Coleman becomes the first Stage Manager to hold the position. “AGMA has been a part of my life for 30 years as an Artist, Delegate, and Vice President.
