The new collective bargaining agreement between AGMA and Lyric Opera of Chicago was approved by AGMA leadership on September 26, after being ratified by the shop. Thank you to the negotiating committee for all their work on this 5-year agreement! Victory for Artists of Opera Colorado in NLRB Decision

AGMA is thrilled to announce that the recent decision by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regarding Opera Colorado, released on the evening of September 29, represents a clear and significant victory for the artists who are seeking to unionize with AGMA. An election has been ordered in the coming weeks, and eligible artists will receive their ballots by mail on October 16. After not voluntarily recognizing the Artists' wishes to unionize with AGMA, Opera Colorado tried to deny the Artists a union election by challenging almost every part of our petition, including claiming that the artists were either independent contractors, "seasonal/casual employees, " or both, and therefore not employees under the National Labo... AGMA recognizes the strength of shared purpose and the power of solidarity. While our two unions represent two entirely different industries, AGMA and UAW are bound together by a shared commitment to championing the rights and well-being of our members. Every worker deserves fair treatment and pay, respect, safety, and dignity in the workplace. This Wednesday, the UAW, WGAE, and SAG-AFTRA NY are coming together in support of striking workers. Supporters can join the solidarity picket outside HBO/Amazon HQ in New York between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. ET.
