Cincinnati Opera – 2024 Summer Festival Chorus and Mainstage Auditions

CINCINNATI, OHIO (September 18, 2023)—This fall, Cincinnati Opera invites aspiring professional singers to audition for chorus and mainstage roles for its 2024 Summer Festival.

Auditions will take place in the following cities:

Audition Dates and Locations

    • October 13, 14, & 15, 2023 • Corbett Opera Center at Cincinnati Music Hall (1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202)
    • October 21 & 22, 2023 • Gallier Hall (545 St. Charles St, New Orleans, LA 70130)
    • October 31, 2023 • Opera America (330 7th Ave, New York, NY 10001)
    • December 2 & 3, 2023 • Corbett Opera Center at Cincinnati Music Hall (1243 Elm Street, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202)

Individuals interested in auditioning should complete the following steps:

1. Submit the online application at https://www.yaptracker.com/applications/cincinnati-operamainstage-chorus-2024/. Applicants must have an account with YAP Tracker, an online auditions management tool, and may sign up for free at this link: https://www.yaptracker.com/register-applicant. Applicants will be required to upload a resume (PDF only) detailing performance experience.

Application Deadlines

  • Cincinnati (1): Must be received by Thursday, Sep. 28, 2023
  • New Orleans: Must be received by Thursday, Oct. 05, 2023
  • New York City: Must be received by Thursday, Oct 05, 2023
  • Cincinnati (2): Must be received by Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023

2. Applicants should select the opportunities for which they are interested in auditioning (chorus, mainstage, or both), as well as their preferred audition date and location, within the online application.

3. Applicants will be notified by email if an audition has been granted and will have the opportunity to schedule an audition time.

4. Individuals auditioning for the Cincinnati Opera Chorus should prepare two (2) contrasting arias in their original languages. Individuals auditioning for a mainstage role should prepare five (5) contrasting arias in their original languages. An accompanist will be provided.

The Cincinnati Opera Chorus and mainstage roles are paid professional engagements under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists. Rehearsals and performances for Cincinnati Opera’s 2024 Summer Festival will begin in late May 2024 and run through the end of July 2024.

  • Company: Cincinnati Opera
  • Location: Cincinnati, OH USA
  • Term: 2024 Summer Festival • May 20, 2024-July 28, 2024 (Including, but not limited to, Opera in the Park and three mainstage opera productions. The final season details along with available roles will be announced by the time of auditions. The majority of the season will most likely be in Italian.)

Program Information

  • The Cincinnati Opera Chorus and Mainstage roles are paid, professional engagements under the jurisdiction of AGMA, the American Guild of Musical Artists.
  • Rehearsals for the 2024 Summer Festival will begin May 20, 2024 and run through July 28th, 2024.
  • Compensation is provided per the hourly and performance rates outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with AGMA. Mainstage contracts are negotiated on either a weekly or per performance basis.

Notes

We are opening dates in new locations in an effort to be more inclusive of those who live outside of the Cincinnati region. Please select the location most convenient for you. Singers from outside the Greater Cincinnati region are welcome and encouraged to audition, however, applicants should be aware that most chorus members and smaller mainstage roles tend to be cast locally.
