Houston Grand Opera announces auditions for
Parsifal
Corps Dancers
Tuesday, August 8, 2023 – 6 -10pm

Houston Grand Opera is seeking 4 dancers (plus one cover) for its production of Parsifal. Choreographer Tim Claydon is looking for dancers trained in aerial harness work, or who are happy working at height. Dancers of all ethnicities and backgrounds are encouraged to attend. Dancers will also need to provide a 2-3 minute reel of their work, ideally showing aerial or harness work. There will be a warmup room available an hour before the audition. There will be no warmup or class given. The audition itself will include floor work, no aerial work. Dancers should wear attire that allows free movement and is suitable for floor work, with soft ballet shoes or sneakers.
The production period is December 8, 2023 – February 4, 2024. Performances are as follows: January 19 (6pm), 21 (2pm), 27 (6pm), 31 (6pm) and February 4 (2pm), 2024. A full rehearsal and performance calendar will be provided with the contract.

Compensation is as follows:

  • $27.24 per hour for rehearsal
  • $269.42 per performance for public performances

Houston Grand Opera’s production of Parisfal will be directed by John Caird, choreographed by Tim Claydon and conducted by Principal Guest Conductor Eun Sun Kim. More information about the production can be found at https://www.houstongrandopera.org.
