The Metropolitan Opera will be auditioning DANCERS well versed in contemporary ballet for the new 2022-23 production of Richard Wagner’s Lohengrin directed by François Girard. The choreographer, Serge Bennathan, is seeking a diverse cast of 15 male-presenting dancers, 8 female-presenting dancers, 5 male-presenting covers, and 3 female-presenting covers. Heavy lifting will be required of 2-4 male-presenting dancers. 1-2 male-presenting dancers will need to be comfortable with heights and working in a harness. All ethnicities and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

In order to fulfill this engagement, dancers would need to be available for rehearsals beginning January 16, 2023, through the final dress scheduled for February 23, 2023, and as needed; and for performances scheduled for:
February 26 matinee, March 2, 5, matinee, 10, 14, 18 matinee, 21, 25, 28, April 1

The audition will be held as follows:

8:30 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.* AGMA & AEA Male-Presenting Dancers

You must be in the sign in line no later than the start of the audition in order to be seen.

These are in-person auditions only. Those attending the auditions are encouraged to submit their headshot, resume, and contact information digitally HERE for our digital casting files. We are not currently accepting fully digital auditions.

Dancers should enter the Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) through the Concourse doors into Founders’ Hall. Auditions will be held in the dance studio, Studio C19.

You must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enter The Metropolitan Opera building for this audition. Under the Met’s Mandatory Covid 19 Vaccination Policy, you must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and received at least one booster shot to work onsite at the Met. If you cannot receive a COVID-19 vaccination because of a qualifying disability or sincerely-held religious belief, you should send a request for an accommodation to boosterexemptionrequest@metopera.org at least 7 days in advance of your audition. A mask must be worn while inside the Met building.

You must be an AGMA or AEA member and bring your VALID membership card with you. Please also bring a photo resume with you to the audition.
