The Metropolitan Opera will be auditioning DANCERS with exceptional ability versed in a variety of styles, including but not limited to ballet, character, contemporary, jazz, etc. for the 2023-24 season productions. These auditions will be open to dancers who are members of AGMA (American Guild of Musical Artists, Inc.) as well as dancers who are not members of AGMA. Dancers cast in any production and hired by the Met will be required to join AGMA.

SALARY INFORMATION
Rehearsals will pay no less than $60.15/hour. Overtime rates are paid under some circumstances, as provided in The Met’s agreement with AGMA. Performances will pay no less than $215.76/performance performed, or $215.76/performance covered. Performance extras are paid when appropriate based on casting, choreography, and staging. These roles will be hired as W2 employees.
ADDITIONAL AUDITION INFORMATION
- These are in-person auditions only. We are not currently accepting fully digital auditions.
- Employees of the Metropolitan Opera must be eligible to work in the United States. Individuals with O-1 visas are eligible to work at the Met.
- Please bring ballet slippers, heels, dance socks, and pointe shoes if you would like to be seen dancing en pointe.
- Please enter the Metropolitan Opera House (Lincoln Center) through the Concourse doors into Founders’ Hall. Auditions will be held in the dance studio, Studio C19.

The Metropolitan Opera will be inviting athletic DANCERS strong and fluent in contemporary, jazz, street styles and storytelling to audition on April 19, 2023 for the 2023-24 production of Anthony Davis’s groundbreaking opera, X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X. Directed by Tony-nominated director Robert O’Hara and choreographed by Rickey Tripp, The Met is seeking a cast of 12 African American dancers and 4 covers. Partnering experience is a plus.
