San Francisco Opera seeks to fill an opening for an Assistant Stage Manager for the upcoming fall season.
This position is one of a distinguished team of stage managers, assistant stage managers, assistant directors, and dance masters who support and run all SFO mainstage operas, concerts, and ancillary activities of the Company, in repertory. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of working cohesively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment among a team of diverse personalities. Proficiency in reading music is required. A minimum of 2-3 years of stage management experience, ideally in opera, is preferred, although candidates with the right temperament and skills will be considered.
This is an AGMA contract of 21 weeks from July 18 – December 10, 2023 (although dates are flexible for the right candidate).
ASM Pay Rate: $1,787.93/week with OT as applicable.
Benefits: 12-months of Aetna medical coverage + $250/month contribution to medical reimbursement account, vacation pay (8% of base weekly), AGMA Retirement Fund contributions (10% of earnings), media fees (per production), & local parking/transit reimbursement.
Travel/Housing: Roundtrip airfare or reimbursement for driving expenses. Housing not provided, but there is a small housing stipend (subject to withholding).
