Washington National Opera announces Dance Auditions for its 2023-2024 production of Romeo and Juliet

To audition, you must show proof of COVID-19 vaccinations and proof of either an FDA Approved Antigen Test taken the day of the audition OR a negative PCR test result within 72 hours of your audition appointment time.

Performances at the Kennedy Center Opera House

6 Corps Dancers needed (3 men and 3 women—divisi tentative and subject to change)

We are looking for exceptional, characterful dancers with a strong ballet and contemporary technique.

Performers should have creative improvisational skills and be happy exploring circus skills such as acrobatics, juggling and poi alongside dance. Some partnering/lifts may be also be involved, alongside work with props.

Payment for WNO Corps Dancers (as employees) is as follows:

Performance Rates:
G1 - $315.90
G2 - $379.55

Please bring ballet slippers and knee pads. Be prepared to dance with ballet slippers and/or barefoot. Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that shows the dance line.

Rehearsals begin on or about October 5, 2023.
Technical rehearsals begin October 25, 2023.*
Performance dates are November 4, 6, 10, 12m, 15, 17, and 18, 2023.
*Piano Tech #1 is currently scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Rehearsals will take place at the Washington National Opera Studio in Takoma.

Dancers should report to the Washington National Opera Studio, 6925 Willow St. NW, Washington, DC 20012.
To reach the Washington National Opera Studio, go to the 3rd floor of the building; directions will be posted.

Dancers must arrive by the appropriate Registration time listed above, i.e. at least one hour prior to the scheduled Audition time, in order to complete the application process.*
