Dance Theatre of Harlem Organizing Update: NLRB Election Slated for March 14

On February 5, AGMA officially notified Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) management of their Artists' intention to unionize. An NLRB union election has now been scheduled for the DTH Artists on March 14. Further updates will be provided soon. ICYMI: The Dancers of Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) signed cards to form a union and join AGMA. Opera Tenor Eric Ferring Joins AGMA Staff as Business Representative

Opera Tenor Eric Ferring (he/him/his) has joined AGMA’s professional staff as a Business Representative, effective March 1. “I’m so excited to focus my full-time efforts on building member engagement and member education,” said Ferring. As a Business Representative, he will be working as part of AGMA’s senior staff on a number of tasks, including national initiatives, new organizing campaigns, and contract negotiations. AGMA Dancers Vice President Antuan Byers will be a panelist at “Making Equity Real: Creating Career Pathways and Good Jobs in the Arts” hosted by the Department of Labor on Wednesday, February 28, at the Frances Perkins Building in Washington, DC. In honor of Black History Month, the discussion will focus on the importance of good jobs, equity, and job quality in the Arts, particularly for Black workers. AGMA Notice: Michigan’s Historic Right-to-Work Repeal

Michigan's historic repeal of its union-busting “right-to-work” law has officially gone into effect (as of February 13). This monumental achievement marks a significant victory for workers across the great state of Michigan, and indeed, for all of us who value the strength and solidarity of our labor unions. The Union Security Provision of the Basic Agreement between AGMA and Detroit Opera will once again be in effect. Individuals NOT already members of AGMA will need to join AGMA by the 30th day of their employment at Detroit Opera. Tentative Agreement Reached with American Ballet Theatre

AGMA is pleased to report that a Tentative Agreement (TA) with ABT was reached today. The TA now awaits shop approval and ratification by the AGMA Board of Governors.
