The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) is pleased to announce that the dancers of Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) have won their union!

Just under one month since coming forward with their campaign, the dancers have prevailed in a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) election. Given the unanimous results, DBDT management will recognize AGMA as the exclusive bargaining representative of the dancers.

Interim National Executive Director Allison Beck praised the dancers' win, stating, "This victory is a testament to the dancers' determination and unity. We are proud to welcome them into the Union."

Beck added, "We look forward to working collaboratively with DBDT management to create a positive and supportive environment for these talented artists."

This marks the third time this year that new AGMA Artists have won their union by a unanimous vote, following similar victories by the dancers of Dance Theatre of Harlem and Ballet Austin, as well as the singers of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale.

Negotiations for DBDT’s first AGMA contract are expected to commence soon. Upcoming DBDT productions include The Big Dance on June 1.
