Pride Month Message from AGMA President Ned Hanlon

As we enter Pride Month, I am reminded of the strength and diversity that makes AGMA resilient and special. We are a union that strives to recognize every member's unique identity and experiences and champions the rights of our LGBTQIA+ members. This month, we honor their contributions to the performing arts and acknowledge the ongoing, unfair struggles they face just by existing.

We must continue to confront the question of how to ensure that the performing arts are a place where everyone can come as they are, thrive, and be free from discrimination and prejudice. The answer extends beyond just words. AGMA’s bargaining priorities reflect the need for real action. Especially in recent years, AGMA has successfully negotiated inclusionary wins in our Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), winning protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and ensuring their workplaces are welcoming spaces. While these victories are a significant start, we understand that there is still so much to do.

As we celebrate Pride Month, let us reaffirm our dedication to these principles in the face of all obstacles and continue to build a more inclusive and equitable future for the members of our AGMA community. Let us recommit to the belief that an injury to one is an injury to all. Let us build our strength through care and solidarity.

Solidarity Forever!
