The American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) is pleased to announce that the Artists of Opera Colorado have won their union! The Artists fought vigilantly for six months to win their union. After prevailing in a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) hearing in October, an immediate mail ballot election was ordered by the NLRB, with the vote count taking place on Monday, November 20. On November 3, AGMA officially notified the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale (PBOC) management of its artists’ desire to unionize, with the hopes that the Company would respect their wishes and voluntarily recognize their union. Unfortunately, PBOC management rejected voluntary recognition. AGMA will be filing for an NLRB election on Monday. We will share more details as things progress.
