Next week, AGMA will be hosting “An Intro to AGMA”, a live member orientation and informational webinar, on Thursday, October 27. Members are welcome to join the webinar at 10:00 a.m. ET or 9:00 p.m. ET on October 27. Anyone who has already registered does not need to do so again! “An Intro to AGMA” will cover everything from the history of AGMA and its structure, to the basics of joining AGMA, to why workers form unions and how they create collective power. Back in August, the Stage Managers’ Association (SMA) announced that AGMA President Ray Menard will be one of three distinguished 2022 recipients of the Del Hughes Awards for Lifetime Achievement in the Art of Stage Management. The Del Hughes Awards Event will take place on Monday, October 24, 2022, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. ET. Corporate, event, and theatrical stage manager Andrew Feigin and theatrical stage manager Bernita Robinson are also being honored alongside President Menard. In addition to these Lifetime Achievement Awards, the SMA will honor Marguerite Price with The Founders Award and Narda E. Alcorn and Lisa Porter with a Special Recognition Award. Health Insurance Seminar Announced by Staging Staff Caucus

The AGMA Staging Staff Caucus will host a Health Insurance Seminar on Monday, November 14 at 9:00 p.m. ET. National Director of Health Services for the Entertainment Community Fund Renata Marinaro, LMSW, will present and answer questions. Marinaro has dedicated her career to counseling professionals in the entertainment and performing arts industry nationwide on healthcare coverage options. In March 2017 she helped launch the Samuel J Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts, in partnership with Mt. Sinai Doctors. Renata’s goal is to create educated and active healthcare consumers. Renata is also a licensed social worker and has worked in healthcare settings in the New York metro area. Dancers of Saint Louis Ballet Take Steps to Unionize

10/11/2022 - With an overwhelming majority of support, the Dancers of Saint Louis Ballet have signed cards to form a union and join the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). “Dancers are extraordinarily dedicated artists and deserve to have a voice in their working lives. AGMA is here to support the Dancers of Saint Louis Ballet as they take the exciting first steps in their unionizing journey,” said Griff Braun, AGMA’s National Organizing Director. “It’s a very exciting time at AGMA and we are looking forward to welcoming these fantastic dancers into the fold.” Saint Louis Ballet is located in Chesterfield, Missouri, employs 21 professional dancers, and stages five artistic productions each season.
