Employers and Entertainment Unions Urge Full Funding for the NEA, NEH, and CPB

A diverse group of employers—ranging from the Motion Picture Association of America to the Tulsa Ballet—united with unions representing professionals from across the arts and entertainment industry to support continued full funding of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) in Fiscal Year 2018. The unions, affiliates of the Department for Professional Employees, AFL-CIO (DPE), represent actors, musicians, dancers, stagehands, and many other entertainment professionals. Sacramento Ballet Artists Vote to Join AGMA

The Sacramento Ballet Artists Voted 23-1 in favor of Joining the American Guild of Musical Artists. Sacramento, CA (April 24, 2017) – The Dancers, Stage Managers and Apprentices who comprise the Artists of Sacramento Ballet voted overwhelmingly to be represented by the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA), the national labor union that represents dancers, singers, and stage production staff in dance and opera companies throughout the US. Sarasota Ballet Dancers Join AGMA

The Sarasota Ballet, their dancers and AGMA enter negotiations for a labor contract. The Sarasota Ballet announces today that the Company joins the top national ballet companies in America by voting to join the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA). AGMA represents dancers, singers and stage production staff in dance and opera companies throughout the United States. A secret ballot vote was held based upon mutual agreement between The Sarasota Ballet and AGMA. Based on the results of the election, The Sarasota Ballet has recognized AGMA as the exclusive bargaining representative of the dancers. AGMA Announces a New National Executive Director

The Board of Governors is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Leonard Egert to the position of National Executive Director. Mr. Egert is an attorney who comes to AGMA with more than twenty years of experience in the labor movement, including serving as Assistant Counsel to the Writers Guild of America, East and in his current position of Executive Director of the San Francisco-Northern California Local of SAG-AFTRA. Additionally, his experience includes representing entertainment and other unions while at the firm of Spivak, Lipton, LLP and his own firm of Egert and Trakinski. Union Plus Offers Help for Survivors of West Virginia Floods

If you are a union member who participates in certain Union Plus programs and have been affected by the recent flooding and mudslides that struck West Virginia, you may be eligible for financial assistance through the Union Plus Disaster Relief Grant program.  Unprecedented flooding has left thousands of families displaced, and many do not have flood insurance. Union Plus Disaster Relief Grants of $500 are available to eligible members who have a Union Plus Credit Card(1), Union Plus Life or Accidental Death Insurance, or Union Plus Auto Insurance, or Union Plus Mortgage.
