How to Support Workers on Strike at Philadelphia Museum of Art

There is a critical strike underway right now at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Over two years ago, workers at the museum voted overwhelmingly to join AFSCME District Council 47, Local 397. Negotiations have stalled because museum management refuses to address workers’ top priorities, including living wages and affordable health care. These workers are determined to win their first contract, but they need our solidarity.

Here is how we can help. There is a Strike Fund for the workers. This fund supports workers on strike who are withholding their labor and sacrificing their pay to win change in their workplace.

Any AGMA Artists in the Philadelphia area: please support the AFSCME picket lines at the museum. The current picketing schedule is Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. ET; Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. ET; and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. ET. If you have any questions about picketing, please contact AFSCME Area Field Services Director James Spears (jspears@afscme.org or  267-318-8497). Turnout is especially helpful on Friday evenings.
