Miami City Ballet Organizing Update: NLRB Election Slated For May 14

AGMA is thrilled to announce that the National Labor Relations Board has ruled in AGMA’s favor and has ordered an immediate election for the dancers of Miami City Ballet. This decision represents a clear and significant step forward for the dancers seeking to unionize with AGMA.

After rebuffing a clear majority of the Artists' wishes to unionize with AGMA and launching an aggressive anti-union campaign, Miami City Ballet management tried to prevent the dancers from even having a chance to cast a secret ballot, forcing a costly and time-consuming two-day hearing at the NLRB.

In the end, Region 12 of the NLRB rejected Miami City Ballet’s claims. A union election has been ordered for May 14.

There's still a tremendous amount of work to be done. Now, we have an election to win. But this brief update is worthy of celebration on its own. We know the entire AGMA community will support the majority of dancers at MCB and encourage them to “Vote Yes!” More to come.
